12.7. The Handprint Burned Into the Console Glass

(Location: Daiichi Reactor Block 1, Observation Deck)

Description:
On the glass of the observation deck at Reactor Block 1, a perfect human handprint was scorched into the surface—fingers spread, slightly angled, as if bracing against collapse. Radiation had bleached it in. No tool could remove it. Juna aligned her own hand but the fit was wrong—too small. “A child?” she asked. “No,” said Judai. “Someone reaching back.” Behind the glass, twisted scaffolding rose like ribs around the reactor’s remains. The control console buzzed softly, a low subaural frequency. Machines below had long stopped functioning, but this handprint kept listening. Not transmitting, not recording—just absorbing. The reactor had a memory, and it was stored in the glass. Whoever had touched it last hadn’t meant to leave a mark—but had left everything.

##Listening Through Glass
##Child-Sized Echo Seal

Very Short Story:
They stayed an hour watching the glass. At sunset, the handprint glowed faintly—phosphorescent against the dying light. Juna spoke aloud, “Are you still in there?” Nothing responded. But the console lights flickered once, briefly, in the shape of an M. Judai looked down at his old notebook. A new sentence had appeared without ink: *He stayed to absorb it.* They left the room backwards, as if to avoid breaking the spell.
