15.23. The Committee for Synchronized Memory

Location: Civic Hall Sub-Basement, Nishijin District
Description:
Once a textile meeting room, this sub-basement was repurposed in 1950 by the “Committee for Synchronized Memory,” a little-documented group who believed trauma could be aligned like time zones. Around a central roundtable, speakers broadcast the same 30-second clip of archival footage—marches, treaty signs, whispers. Every speaker is out of sync by milliseconds. The resulting effect: a room full of almost-memory, hovering just beyond comprehension. Judai’s notes trembled when he sat inside. Juna placed a filmstrip from Manchuria on the table, and the sound aligned for a second—long enough to hear, “You were there.” The Committee wasn’t building consensus. They were sewing parallel timelines until one could be worn like a uniform.

Keywords:
##synchronized trauma calibration
##memory zone committee
##roundtable misalignment
##Nishijin civic remix
##archive echo chamber

Very Short Story:
They listened. Marching sounds stuttered, then echoed, then faded. One speaker hissed “yes,” another shouted “never,” another laughed. Juna covered her ears. Judai stayed still. Then, in perfect unison, all the speakers whispered: “Again.” The lights blinked. When they turned on, their positions had changed. Juna held the notebook. Judai held the book. Neither remembered switching.
