Description:
The device stands on a rotating platform, surrounded by engineers long since gone. Judai and Juna find it by accident — the sign reads “NARRATIVE REVERSAL IN PROGRESS.” A reel spins backward through a strange spooling mechanism. When activated, it un-narrates recent memory: a sentence unspoken, an action unmade. They test it. Juna lifts her hand. The machine activates, and suddenly she hasn’t. Judai writes a note; it vanishes. “It’s subtracting story,” she says. Every use rewinds meaning, peeling away causality. They fear staying too long. Already, the floorplan of the building is gone from their notes. Before they leave, Judai turns to say something — but the device erases the intention before it forms.

They activated the machine only once. The room grew lighter, as if consequence had been lifted. Judai’s pencil dropped to the floor — or had it already fallen? Juna looked at her book. It was blank again. But she remembered writing. “We shouldn’t stay,” she said. “Or we’ll be undone.” Her words echoed, but in reverse.
