**Description:** \\
Each year on the evening of September 30th, just after dusk, citizens gather wordlessly at Hypocenter Square and begin to mime a film they’ve never seen. The event is called *Rehearsal*, and no script is distributed. Movements are silent. Roles shift. Juna notices that some participants wear devices near their temples---old radios, VHS tape loops, magnetic film coils. Judai sketches the formations: they match a 1936 street map of Urakami, down to the angle of gestures. The actors nod to no camera. And yet the space *records*. Each year, playback devices at homes throughout Nagasaki begin spontaneously emitting flickering, black-and-white impressions of the performance. No one knows how the footage gets there. It’s never the same, but always familiar. \\

That night, when they returned to their lodging, Judai’s notebook had changed. It now contained frame-by-frame illustrations of the evening’s mime, annotated in Juna’s handwriting. But she had never written them. Later, a neighbor’s television turned on by itself, displaying the same scene. “We’re not reenacting,” Juna said, “we’re transmitting.” \\
