4.10. The Uniform Exchange

(Location: Cloth Repository No. 3, North Military Ward)

Description:
In a warehouse of folded garments, uniforms are sorted not by rank, but by ideology. Red sashes for silent service. Gold-threaded coats for internal conflict. Invisible buttons for never-deployed heroes. Judai opens a box labeled *Uniforms Worn in Dreams.* Juna reads the stitching on one jacket: *Worn for the Wrong Victory.* No one patrols the place, but a sign at the entrance warns: *DO NOT MIX IDENTITIES.* The mannequins lining the walls wear impossible combinations—warriors with peacekeeper collars, saboteurs in ceremonial lace. It’s a museum of uniforms that never saw action, and thus remain clean. Juna tries one on and feels a weight she cannot name. “Some people wore fabric heavier than bullets,” she says. “And some folded theirs before surrendering.”

##conflicted textiles
##fabric of allegiance

Very Short Story:
The jacket fit perfectly, despite being labeled “Not Yours.” Judai tried on a cap and felt an immediate headache—like a memory trying to press through. They didn’t know what battles had been imagined while wearing these. One tag read: *For Ceremonies That Never Happened.* Another: *Repurposed for Fiction.* They walked slowly through aisles of alternate selves. Each garment shimmered slightly, as if trying to rewrite its own history. When they left, neither wore anything new. But both felt dressed in someone else’s silence.
