4.25. Denialist Pamphlet Distributor
(Location: Crosswalk No. 13, Near TEPCO Headquarters)
Description:
He wears a pressed uniform, immaculate and unnamed. He does not speak. He hands out glossy pamphlets that say: *This Never Happened.* On the cover, cherry blossoms fall over a city that burned. Juna opens one: inside, a single sentence, repeated across twelve pages: *To doubt is to belong.* Judai takes one, folds it into a paper airplane, and throws it—it lands beside the TEPCO sign. “These aren't just erasures,” Juna mutters. “They’re recruitment tools.” Across the street, more distributors appear. Each one wears the same expression: neutral hope. Above, a billboard flickers through archival footage, none of it matching the text. Beneath it all: a smile that insists you misunderstood the war.
Keywords:
##institutional denial
##propaganda recursion
##history as error
##pamphlet evangelism
##false blossom truth
Very Short Story:
The pamphlet crinkled in her hand. Juna held it over a vent. “Feels radioactive,” she said, half-joking. Judai opened another and found a list of vanished cities—some they had just walked through. A passerby thanked them for the “positive history.” A drone hovered, scanning pamphlet uptake rates. Juna dropped hers. It caught wind, spun upward, and burst into cherry petals midair. “The real fiction,” Judai whispered, “is how convincing it still is.”
