5.13. The Weather Command Pavilion

(Location: Meteorological Command Dome, Manchurian Atmospheric Research Station)

Description:
Atop a synthetic hill rises a glass dome once used to control local weather simulations—part of a morale program initiated during the famine years. A lever labeled *Rain Memory* is rusted in mid-pull. Judai steps inside the dome and sees rows of analog dials still twitching. The simulated clouds projected on the ceiling still flicker with static. “They tried to tell the sky how to feel,” Juna remarks. The manual on the console reads: *Only produce sunshine when optimism metrics rise.* Dusty speaker cones line the walls, programmed to issue “encouragement forecasts.” None activate now. A note left behind reads: *The machine predicted its own silence.* Outside, clouds gather unscheduled.

Keywords:
##manufactured weather
##morale engineering
##climate propaganda
##forecasted obedience
##sky simulation

Very Short Story:
Juna pressed a button labeled *Hope Surge.* Nothing happened. Judai opened the rainfall log. The last entry read: *Emotionally overcast.* They stood in the center as faint thunder rumbled from the speakers—no storm, only suggestion. “It wasn’t about weather,” Juna said. “It was about permission to feel.” The dome’s walls steamed gently. Outside, real rain began. Neither had brought an umbrella.
