5.2. The Projection Room Above the Assembly Hall
(Location: Second Balcony, Manchukuo State Council Ruins)
Description:
High above the shattered dais of the former State Council chamber lies a room never listed on blueprints. Dust-caked reels and broken speakers clutter the floor. This was where political cinema was reviewed before being sanctioned for the populace—films edited in advance to preempt dissent. One metal canister is labeled: *Minister’s Cut – Scene Reversal Authorized.* Juna wipes dust from a cracked lens aimed not at the screen but at the delegates’ backs. Judai finds strips of film spliced with wire, each bearing alternate endings to official history. In the corner, a control switch labeled *Sympathy Filter.* “They tested narratives like weapons,” Juna mutters. Through the porthole window, their eyes fall on the rotunda far below—now housing birds, and one living dog.

Very Short Story:
Judai fed a fragment into the projector. The screen glowed with a coronation speech—then flickered, shifting tone mid-sentence. “They looped confidence into loyalty,” he whispered. Juna found a diagram on the wall showing how audiences should react. *Smile at timestamp 3:12. Clap at 5:40.* She closed her eyes, imagined delegates unaware they’d been scored like films. One reel bore the note: *Do not screen without music.* Judai added no sound. The film ran silent, and it was worse. They rewound nothing. Behind them, the projector sparked once more.
