Description:
They expected rust, silence, maybe ghosts. What they found was a signal—clear, layered, unmistakably alive. The Lumiere Radio tower had fallen out of use decades earlier, its last known transmission registered in 1971. But Judai tuned a portable to its old frequency and heard music. Not past songs—songs from a future they didn’t yet know. Juna translated lyrics mid-transmission: “We broadcast only what you fail to imagine.” The tower’s lights flickered on. The floor beneath them vibrated in chordal pulses. They ascended to the top where a console pulsed faintly. No wires. Just a speaker and a microphone. Judai whispered: “Who are we listening to?” The speaker replied with their names. Then silence. Then static. Then music again.

Twenty minutes later, his words returned—but altered, improved, with a melody. Juna tapped the console. “It’s us,” she said. “But future.” The static never settled. They left the tower and found their voices slightly delayed for the next three days.
