(Location: Station Ruin between Mitaka and Kichijoji)
Description:
Once a commuter stop, the station now existed as outline: melted metal rails, scorched posters, and tiled names burned half away. It was said the air once ignited on its own. “Oxygen Fire of the Skeleton Kings,” whispered a nameplate, half-buried. Juna held her breath and stepped forward. The air shimmered, revealing human forms built of bone and wire, reenacting arrivals. They bowed politely to no one. Judai opened his notebook, and the ink smoked. “Even memory is flammable here,” he noted. When they tried to speak, vapor escaped their mouths like speech on fast-forward. They left before the fire remembered how to burn again.

Very Short Story:
Judai drew a map. It caught fire in three places—each mark turning to ash. Juna filmed the skeletons as they pantomimed boarding routines, their vertebrae clacking in time. She whispered a greeting. One turned and nodded, smoke drifting from its sockets. They waited until a train they could not see arrived. The skeletons stepped in, and the platform hissed with satisfaction. After, the air cooled. Judai touched a wall. It whispered: “Transfer denied.”
