9.15. Frog Consulate at the End of Things
(Location: Post-Television Embassy Ruins, North Basin)
Description:
Built of concrete and mirrors, the Consulate had once relayed frog-broadcast approval to distant districts. Now, only half of it remained—collapsed into the basin. Inside, they found remnants of diplomatic kits: wax-sealed scrolls shaped like tongues, amphibian ink stamps, croak-to-text typewriters. Juna decoded a message scratched into the wall: “We speak now through what we left.” Judai found a locked room marked “OFFICIAL CROAK.” Inside: a voiceprint of the last known amphibian representative, stored in gelatin. They played it. The room warmed. Outside, a line of frogs stood perfectly still facing the embassy. “They’re still waiting for the response,” she said.

Very Short Story:
Juna faced the frogs and bowed. Judai stepped into the embassy and pressed a red button marked “REPLY.” A low tone filled the air. The frogs did not move, but the air around them shimmered. The consulate’s glass door cracked—then froze into a pattern shaped like a pond ripple. “They accepted,” Juna whispered. “Or they always had.” They left the ruins slowly, following a line of frogs down into a field of mirrored silence.
