9.9. Train to the End of Broadcast
(Location: Final Signal Spur, Westernmost JR Track)
Description:
The train was real—but its arrival wasn’t. Judai and Juna waited at a platform listed only as “End of Broadcast.” A faint announcer voice repeated: “This is the last line.” The train, when it came, shimmered like a bad tape. Its windows played frog cartoons from the 1930s—looped, fuzzy, inverted. “The train isn’t moving,” Juna said. “We are.” They stepped inside. The air smelt of burnt coils and pondwater. The seats, though empty, were warm. On each cushion, an imprint shaped like a crouched frog. The conductor’s booth played static, then the sound of rain underwater. “It's a rerun,” Judai said. “Of something that hasn’t ended yet.”

Very Short Story:
They sat in silence as the train shook once, then again. Outside, the scenery repeated: same frog, same puddle, same warped cloud. Juna closed her eyes. When she opened them, Judai had a frog sitting in his lap—silent, dignified, unmoving. The conductor’s booth opened briefly. No one inside. A voice from the intercom whispered: “Say it again.” Juna did not know what “it” was. But she whispered: “We’re loyal.” The train doors opened to an empty field.
