10.2. Beneath the Reverse Disk
(Location: Nobeyama, Under the Emperor’s Tomb)
Description:
In the center of Nobeyama lies a geological impossibility: a massive circular formation known as the Reverse Disk. The tomb of Emperor Taisho rests within it, nested like a secret inside a secret. To descend into it requires passing through an artificial ridge lined with obsolete measurement instruments—calipers, broken clinometers, meters engraved in kanji. Judai records a sequence of ticking sounds under his breath. Juna identifies one corner of the disk as a former astronomical station, now hollowed out and filled with fog. The ARTSAT echoes faint signals through the volcanic rock, timed to align with eclipses not yet predicted. As they walk, the fog shapes itself into a diagram: not of stars, but of forgotten imperial lines.

Very Short Story:
When Juna stepped into the Reverse Disk, she felt gravity twist. Judai dropped a pencil and it rolled uphill. The tomb of Taisho stood silent, encased in basalt and silence. They listened—not for voice, but for pattern. Beneath the ground, the ARTSAT murmured in ultrasonic pulses. “That’s not a signal,” Judai said. “That’s a bloodline.” Juna turned to the fog and asked, “Whose?” The fog responded not in sound but in motion, drawing arcs that crossed in the center—beneath their feet. They marked the spot, unsure whether they had found a grave or a seed.
